Musicians Nanette Garcia and Maurice Minichino spent years traveling the globe with their daughters Melanie and Olympia, performing and experiencing different cultures with particular focus on the creative aspects of each.  Their goal was to understand how traditions such as story telling through songs, instrument playing and dance are passed on from one generation to the next. When doing field work in Cuba, they noted that from an early age children take part in rituals that combine drumming, chanting and dance in their homes with family members. This experience confirmed Nanette and Maurice’s theory that these combined activities, done with a specific dynamic, is an extremely effective way to teach children anything.
