Talk n Drum
creators
The concept,
curriculum and original repertoire of songs were put together
by world travelers and multi linguists Nanette Garcia
and Maurice Minichino and used
as a tool to keep language alive in their home for their own
two daughters. After many years of teaching music and foreign
language as separate disciplines, the two composers/educators
combined the two to create a method that nurtures the
preschooler’s special ability to learn a second and even third
language through playing instruments, chanting and singing activities.
Talk and Drum mission
statement:
One of the goals of the TND method is
to promote team work as well as a sense of community by
teaching spoken and creative communication
skills through the art of music. Another goal of the TND
method is to instill tolerance and acceptance of all people
and the cultures to which they belong. Nanette Garcia
(director and
co-creator)

Testimonials
"Talk N Drum is not
your conventional foreign language program. Besides using
instruments to teach a new spoken
language, Nanette's multi-sensory approach enhances
children's creativity, listening and organizational skills, large
and fine motor development, and above all else, it's FUN! Nanette
brings out the gifted in each child."

Director of nursey
school at the YWCA of White Plains NY
"Talk N Drum is a
wonderful program for our preschoolers. Nanette Garcia leads
the group in an energetic and rhythmic program to learn Spanish in a
fun and memorable way. Remembering the Spanish words is easy
when the children learn the rhythms of pronunciation by moving their
whole body. The activity is developmentally appropriate
and therefore very affective for preschoolers who are learning
another language."

"As a professional language teacher and children's
librarian, I was delighted to have Nanette Garcia present "Talk 'n
drum" to children in my library. Her teaching methods are unique,
highly effective and lots of fun! Children who took her class
learned Spanish vocabulary effortlessly, and had a blast doing
it!
